Digital Communications Intern
Overview:
The Minnesota House DFL Campaign is seeking an intern for the 2024 fall session (September to December) interested in contributing to a fast-paced campaign team while helping House DFLers retain or expand their majority in the MN House of Representatives.
Interns will learn essential digital communications and social media skills that, upon completion of their internship, will prepare them to land a full-time job on a campaign. Interns will draft and generate social content, among other essential skills that are important to people hiring digital communications staff. We require all staff (including interns) to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Minnesota House DFL Campaign wants to expand our team with a hard-working and passionate individual who believes in making Minnesota a better place for all. This position will work in the House DFL communications department.
Job duties include:
Assist with the design and execution of social media campaigns
Create and distribute content such as infographics, videos, and press releases on social media and traditional news outlets
Track social media engagement to identify high-performing ideas and campaigns for scalability
Respond to comments and DMs on social media platforms
Brainstorm and research ideas for original content
Create compelling graphics to share across social channels
Write social media captions that speak to the company’s target audience
Develop new strategies for increasing engagement
Assist with photo/video content shoots
Ensure the brand message is consistent
Assisting with general campaign work
Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently on multiple projects
Belief in the progressive cause and maintaining and growing the DFL majority in the Minnesota House
Preferred Experience:
Experience working in Microsoft Office -- particularly Excel
Comfortable working in Google Suite
Compensation: Interns will be paid $15/hour and may also receive academic credit from their school. The internship will run from June to August. Hours are flexible and will be arranged in coordination with House DFL staff and intern’s schedule; with an intern expected to work 15-20 hours per week.
